The Importance of Staging
The Importance of Staging your Home
Yes, you have all been hearing it is currently a seller’s market. If you are thinking of selling your home in the Blue Mountains, or maybe you already purchased and must sell your home, staging will give you that edge over an unstaged…or worse… a vacant home. So continue reading to find out the importance of staging your home.
Did you know that when purchasing a home, most people make a decision in less than 7 minutes?!
The reason prospective purchasers are in and out of a home in 5 minutes is they have done exactly that, determined this is not the right home for them. I can tell you first hand the reasons are not what you think dear seller. It is a feel, a smell (yes smell), and an overall vibe. Staging will set that vibe. It also helps prospective buyers envision themselves living in that space. Staging neutralizes the space and smells. Staged homes have been proven to sell faster, and for more money than un-staged homes.
There are a lot of details that go into staging a home, that is why I have partnered with Canadian Staging Professional: Julie Brown from Flair Style Co.!
Keeping things simple when it comes to staging is key!
Making the home easy on the eyes and neutral for prospective buyers to imagine their lives and their own belongings in the home. You don’t want buyers focusing on your “unique” rainbow, hand-carved 2-foot tall fruit-holding skeleton centerpiece. Keep the area clean and clear to really see the beautiful granite counter on that custom kitchen island so they can envision cooking with family and friends.
Shades of white, gray, and accents of primary colours are most popular when it comes to staging. There is a reason the Panton colour of the year award for 2021 was “Ultimate Gray” and “Illuminating” a vibrant yellow. “It’s a combination that speaks to the resilience, the optimism and hope and positivity that we need, as we reset, renew, reimagine and reinvent,” said Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute.
People love a clean and fresh look.
So when the home is empty, people find it hard to envision themselves in the space.

One of the reasons sellers don’t stage is they are nervous about the cost. When you list with us, you receive a staging consultation. Many sellers have taken the information from this consultation and staged their own homes beautifully. Other sellers let my partner, Julie, take over and do a full stage including all paintings and furniture. You see, it’s really up to you dear seller.
