
Wasaga Beach is home to the world’s longest freshwater beach. It has over 14 kilometres of sandy beaches and 6 beach areas. The Town of Wasaga Beach was incorporated January 1, 1974 where the permanent population was 4,034. Today, the town has 20,665 full-time residents and 16,000 seasonal and part-time residents and is growing dramatically.
For years this area was known as the getaway party place, but a fire in 2007 wiped out many businesses and this cleared the way for a new Revitalization Plan. Many speculated that this fire was set on purpose. 2 young men were charged with arson laying to rest this allegation or arson.
