Ahhhh Thornbury! This little town is the centre gemstone and the heart of Southern Georgian Bay. While technically a part of the Blue Mountains, I am highlighting this beautiful town as it is the Builds By The Bay head quarters. Thornbury was incorporated the “Township of Thornbury” in 1833 and gained its independence from Collingwood to become the Town of Thornbury in 1887. In 1887 there were only a handful of homes and 100 people living here. Today there are over 1200 full time residents and many more are calling Thornbury their weekend retreat that they hope to retire to.
Thornbury boasts not one but two waterfront areas to live around! The town has homes on or sprinkled walking distance from Georgian Bay which many know about. The second waterfront area is the MillPond, which is atop the dam and is fed water by the Beaver river. Chances are if you live in this town, you know all the secret water areas to explore for a magical adventure.
Now onto The Town of the Blue Mountains Developments: There are currently several active developments in the area that are in full swing build mode. There are many new home builders and new homes for sale.
Believe it or not there is slated to be 500+ new dwellings coming from 2020-2030 that will be built from The village right through to Thornbury.
