There is a private beach for Lora bay owners, a recreation centre and restaurant, pro shop and meeting space. Homes in Lora bay are sectioned into 4 areas. AppleJack/Rankins Landing — These townhouse condos are another popular option in Thornbury real estate since they are a good starter for first time buyers or down sizers. It is also a perfect weekend place for skiers and summer getaways without worrying about the upkeep! Ideally situated on the west side of town south of highway 26. Onsite amenities include outdoor pools, tennis courts and it is walkable to trails, downtown, located near a dog park, baseball diamond community centre.
Millpond — Ohhhh to have a home/condo that backs onto the Millpond here in town! The millpond is fed by the beaver river and active pond life makes for hours of peace and calm. Homes along the millpond are off Alice street, Elgin, and Mcauley. Off highway 26 are 12 units facing the pond and 9 off the front, a super cozy community where we all look out for each other. Condos are reverse floor plan in the front and back are bungalow and bunga-loft style. These popular homes in Thornbury rarely come up for sale so you need a local realtor who not only lives there, but can call “dibs” for you 🙂
Bayside— If you are into modern and new, there is a sweet new development that is just off grey road 40. Bayside is an up and coming popular neighbourhood in Thornbury real estate since the current purchasers are just moving into phase one, but I am sure there will be a few resales in the next year or so. Great views of the escarpment, 7 minutes to Thornbury and right off the Georgian trail make this enclave very special indeed!
Highbluff and Timberlane— If you want to be just on the West side of Thornbury there is a newer pocket of chalet-style single detached family homes on very generous lots. I started selling these homes with builders several years back and I can assure you this tight knit community, and wonderful neighbourhood in Thornbury that really looks out for each other.
Life lease off Napier— Typically a 55+ community where you own the land but pay land lease fee. Phase 1 is sold out but the next phase is slated for release 2023. These are great new builds and popular for downsizers who want main floor living and a smaller home.
