Thornbury Neighbourhoods: Timber Lane & High Bluff Lane
Thornbury Neighbourhoods: Timber Lane and High Bluff Lane
Thornbury is a quaint town located along the shoreline of Georgian Bay. Thornbury is a part of the municipality of The Blue Mountains, in Grey County. We have a population size of approximately 8 thousand people, which nearly doubles during peak tourist seasons and weekends! Thornbury is a four seasons playground to those who live, work and play in this beautiful town. When it comes to choosing where you live, it’s all about the lifestyle. You can have a beautiful home anywhere, but does your location fit your lifestyle needs? Thornbury has many popular neighbourhoods to choose (check out our blogs for a deep dive on each of these popular neighbourhoods) Bayside, Millpond, Applejack & Rankins Landing, and Lora Bay – each one offering different amenities. Today we will dive into two streets/Thornbury Neighbourhoods: Timber Lane & High Bluff Lane.
Location
If you want to be just on the West side of Thornbury there is a new pocket of chalet-style single detached family homes on very generous lots. This Thornbury pocket is Timber Lane and High Bluff Lane. I started selling these homes with builders several years back, therefore I can assure you this is a tight knit community that really looks out for each other. This area was initially marketed as an alternative to Lora Bay. It was available to purchasers who wanted to be closer to town and didn’t want to live on a golf course or pay any association fees. The big sell was the lot sizes and the natural exteriors: wood and stone. Also the primary bedroom is on the main level – so that is a bonus!

High Bluff Lane
Located in between Peel Street North, and 10th Line is High Bluff Lane. High Bluff Lane homes back south into the Georgian trail or north into the escarpment. Some escarpment lots may even have Georgian Bay water views. There are about 70 homes on nice sized 75-85 foot wide and up to 200 deep lots along High Bluff Lane that are bungalow or bungaloft style and all have main floor primary bedrooms. The bigger homes have dens or second bedrooms on the main level. Floor plans are between 1600-4000 Square feet. Most have a double garage and some even have 3 as you need space for the adult toys! The main builder of these homes is Reid’s Heritage Homes with custom homes rounding out the mix as this street nears completion. The last two resales along High Bluff Lane were $1,720,000 (smaller sized home and lot) and then $2,850,000 (biggest home and lot on the street). Ironically, they are across the street from each other.
Timber Lane
Timber Lane and Plum Ridge Circle are arguably currently the highest value homes in Thornbury that aren’t directly on the water. Timber Lane is nestled between the escarpment to the South and Cameron Street to the North with a cute little cul-de-sac known as Plum Ridge Circle off Timber Lane. Adjacent to Timber Lane, walk south and you will be on the Georgian Trail within 5 minutes, this upscale area offers easy access to Georgian Bay via Peel Street. There are approximately 54 homes with lots and homes also ranging in size from 1600-5000 Square feet. Some lots are over 100 feet wide and 300 feet deep which is perfect for someone who wants land with their home. Most homes along here were built by two main builders. Reid’s Heritage homes got in with the first 16 and yours truly sold 14 of the 16! Calibrex Group bought the majority of the remaining lots, and there was a sprinkling of private sale lots sold to purchasers who have built their own custom homes. This development is less than 5 years old. The last sale on Timberlane was a whooping $2.895,000!
Thornbury: 4 Seasons Lifestyle
Living in Thornbury on Timber Lane or High Bluff Lane you are a short drive to the ski slopes, steps to local hiking trails (Georgian Trail is practically in your backyard if you are on High bluff). There are awesome Golf courses minutes away – The Golf Club at Lora Bay, or a personal favourite: Tomahawk Golf Course. I could never forget the crystal clear waters of Georgian Bay, a big reason we all love living here… for the water activities! Whether you love swimming, canoeing, kayaking, SUPing, or just feeling the sand under your feet and dipping your toes into the water…you are sure to fall in love!
