About Clarksburg
Clarksburg is located in The Blue Mountains, Ontario Canada in the Beaver Valley south of Thornbury along Grey Road 13. Clendenan Dam is a Clarksburg gem which is a great spot for local fishing and hiking through its forested trails. The Beaver River flows through Clendenan Dam, through the village and north to the Georgian Bay. Clarksburg is a unique little village packed with wonderful and unique shops. Some of my favourites are the Loft Gallery for their beautiful art, Hindle’s Clarksburg Hardware well known as the old-fashioned hardware store carries some unique gems, along with Clarksburg Antiques, and I cannot forget to share the Honey House which is shaped like a beehive! New on the scene is the SHED area where you can rent e-bike or grab an ice cream! This village is happening with lots of local events brought to the community by The Marsh Street Centre. Concerts, theatre, art shows, occasional opera and beer yoga are all events the Marsh Street Centre has held for the community.
Where are the Restaurants in Clarksburg?
Looking for restaurants? Unfortunately, you won’t find one in Clarksburg…Although there is a great little market, The Market on Marsh which offers coffee and takeout sandwiches. There aren’t any restaurants because there is no municipal water or wastewater services. Homeowners in the area are all on wells and septic systems. There has been much discussion on projects to increase the water supply but this means a lot of big changes for the town. On one hand residents of the area are concerned about the costs that would come with improving water and wastewater services in the community, along with their desire to keep the “historical character” and keep Clarksburg from becoming overdeveloped. On the other hand, residents of Clarksburg expressed how restaurants and cafes would be a wonderful addition to enhancing the community. While only time will tell what happens, Clarksburg is not short on community or character and Thornbury is filled with wonderful restaurants and cafes which are only a short walk, bike ride or drive away.
Artsburg
Clarksburg Main Street: Marsh Street
Clarksburg is also referred to as “Artsburg” due to all its fabulous galleries and art studios. You can find the Loft Gallery, Matilda Swanson Gallery, Curio, Marsh Street Gallery and many more!! Simply walking down the street window shopping you can soak in tons of amazing art. If you love the art scene then Clarksburg may be the perfect place to call home!
